Reduce surface tack on seals and o-rings.

The polymers used in seals and o-rings have elastic and deformation properties that define their ability to seal. However, these properties also cause friction and wear at the surface. Gas plasma processing provides a reliable, consistent, and environmentally friendly method reducing surface friction while at the same time preserving properties of the bulk material. Seals and o-rings function as gas or liquid barriers in hydraulic, pneumatic and vacuum applications. They are used on rods, pistons, flanges, end caps and plugs, for industries ranging from food processing to semiconductor, automotive to aerospace, and petrochemicals to pharmaceuticals. For seals and o-rings friction means wear. High wear rates affect system reliability and frequency of maintenance. Gas plasma reduces friction by chemically and physically modifying the surface in a controlled environment.
