Stamper Passivation
The first galvanically grown electroform is called the “Father”. Prior to growing a “Mother” (the negative of the “Father”) from the “Father”, the “Father” is first passivated by oxidation. Likewise, prior to growing “Sons” from the “Mother”, the “Mother” is passivated. Previously this was done by wet chemistry or by ozone treatment. PVA TePla’s M4L passivates by plasma in a clean, dry, single step process.
